Suggestion I shared with a newbie recently....

You are at the beginning, so begin in a direct and simple way.

Take one month and give yourself to three things:

·        reading,

·        daily practice,

·        and honest attention.

Here is your starting reading list for the first month:

  1. The Little Book of Satanism by La Carmina

Begin here. It gives you a broad introduction to Satanism in clear, readable language.

  1. The Devil’s Notebook by Anton LaVey

Read this in small sections. It works well for daily reflection.

  1. The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey

Read selected parts slowly as one major modern Satanic reference point.

LaVey is an ATHEISTIC Satanist.  You feel more like a THEISTIC Satanist.  Even so, many Satanists, Atheistic and Theistic, will often refer to the writings of LaVey as a sort of basic text.

  1. The Marriage of Heaven and Hell by William Blake

Read this to open the imagination and loosen the old Christian categories in the mind.

  1. Selected passages from Paradise Lost by John Milton

Read for the figure of Satan and for the themes of dignity, will, rebellion, and spiritual intensity.

  1. The Devil’s Bible by Lillithanne Diabolique, pages 94–100

Use these pages as your self-initiation course. Work through them with seriousness, patience, and reverence.

  1. One basic Aleister Nacht text: Sanctum of Shadows, Vol. 1: The Satanist

Use this as your first Aleister Nacht book. It is a more suitable entry point than jumping straight into one of his heavier ritual manuals.

  1. The Satanic Kerygma by LCFNS

A good re-programming book – though again Atheistic.  Read this later in the month, after you have some ground under you. It presents a catechism-style guide to the Left-Hand Path and godlessness within the Ecclesia Luciferi current.

Alongside the reading, build a simple daily practice.

Prepare a small space:

Ø  a black cloth,

Ø  a tea candle in a safe tea candle holder (black if possible),

Ø  a Satanic journal, that you keep secret and safe and hidden, and that you will write in 10-15 minutes each day.

Each day:

1.        Light the candle.

2.        Sit down (naked or clothed, if possible wrap yourself in a black cloth – black is a color that draws energy to you).

3.        Say: “Satan, I come to you in sincerity. Teach me to know myself clearly. Teach me to walk this path with truth.”

4.        Then sit in silence.

5.        When you finish, write a few lines in your journal.

This is what you write in your journal:

Write what you felt.Write what stirred.Write what opened.Write what became clear.Write what remains alive in you.

Your first month has one purpose:to build contact.

Week 1: Establish the spaceRead from The Little Book of Satanism each day.Light the candle every day.Sit for ten minutes.Speak simply.Journal briefly.

Week 2: Deepen attentionContinue The Little Book of Satanism.Begin The Devil’s Notebook.Sit for twelve to fifteen minutes.Pay attention to what rises in you: longing, heat, peace, grief, reverence, excitement, clarity.Write it down in plain words.

Week 3: Open the imaginationContinue The Devil’s Notebook.Begin The Marriage of Heaven and Hell.Read a little from Sanctum of Shadows, Vol. 1: The Satanist.Keep the same daily sitting practice.

Add this prayer before silence: “Satan, teach me to stand in truth, strength, and freedom.”

Week 4: Clarify the pathBegin selected readings from The Satanic Bible and selected passages from Paradise Lost.Work through pages 94–100 of The Devil’s Bible with care as your self-initiation course.Begin The Satanic Kerygma slowly, a little at a time.Keep the candle practice daily.

At the end of each sitting, write on one of these:Why does Satan call to me?What in me wants freedom? What in me wants truth? What in me is waking up?What kind of man am I becoming on this path?

Sexual energy may be one current moving through this path. Spiritual hunger, longing, courage, beauty, desire, honesty, and dignity also belong here. Over time, the deeper shape of the path becomes clearer.

Give yourself one month of steadiness.Read.Sit.Speak honestly.Listen.Write.

At the end of the month, you will know more because you will have experienced something.

Ave Satanas.

PS – I strongly recommend that Satanic Discussion Group every other Saturday.
