Raised in a Protestant household, one is burdened with a great deal of guilt and self‑loathing, taught to see oneself as a homosexual abomination. Even after I found acceptance on the left‑hand path, blasphemy still evoked feelings of guilt. Today, however, I experience it as therapeutic and necessary—a way to begin undoing some of the self‑betrayal we were forced to endure at the hands of the church.
